Are you considering taking one of Wredling’s three language classes? Today, you can hopefully decide whether or not German, Spanish, or French class will be the right fit for you. We will be hearing from students from each of these language classes to help you get more information on what electives to pick. Make sure to stay tuned until the end for a video featuring this year’s classes!
To hear about our Spanish offerings, Cam Walker and Sophia Acosta shared their thoughts.
Why did you take a Spanish class?
Cam: It’s a very useful language in today’s world since so many people speak Spanish.
Sophia: It seemed like it would be the easiest out of the three languages to learn.
Who is your teacher and what do you like most about them or their class?
Cam: I have Ms. Zmich, and my favorite thing about her class is that she makes learning really fun through the activities that we do.
Sophia: I also have Ms. Zmich. I like that she has us do cool activities and that we get to choose our seats.
What have you learned in some of the units so far?
Sophia: We learned the basics of Spanish, pronunciation, and parts of a home.
What is your favorite word to say in Spanish, and what does it mean?
Cam: My favorite word is lápiz, which means pencil.
Would you ever consider taking a different language class?
Both: No!
On a scale of 1-10, how easy was it to learn Spanish? Also, how fun was it?
Cam: It was 6 for how easy it was to learn and a 9 for fun.
Now that you know a bit more about a day in the life of a Spanish student, let’s hear from Zooey Smith about what taking French class is like.
Zooey says that she chose to take French because she always wanted to go to Paris and thinks it’s a beautiful language. She says that her teacher, Mrs. Spotak, is very supportive, patient, and always makes learning new vocabulary really fun.
Some units her French class has learned so far are foods, clothing, and stores. Zooey says that her favorite word is boulangerie, which means bakery. She mentioned that she would consider taking a Spanish class since “it is essential to some careers.”
Zooey also says that on a scale from 1-10, learning French has been about a level 6 difficulty, while it has been a level 9 for fun! She thinks that Spanish would be the easiest language to learn at Wredling and that French is the hardest since it has to be spoken with certain accents.
To wrap it all up, let’s hear what Evan Walton has to say about being a German student at Wredling.
Why did you take German class?
I thought it would be different and cool to take.
Who is your teacher and what do you like most about them or their class?

What have you learned in some of the units so far?
We have learned about directions and clothing.
What is your favorite word to say in German, and what does it mean?
My favorite word is veinachten, which means Christmas.
Would you ever consider taking a different language class?
Possibly a French class.
On a scale of 1-10, how easy was it to learn German, and how fun was it?
To learn, it was a four, and for fun, it was an eight.
What do you think is the easiest language class to take, and what do you think is the hardest?
I think Spanish is the easiest and German is the hardest.
