Builders Club helps people within our community. Its main goal is build up our community through service. It started at Wredling in 2007 and is actually the middle school version of Key Club. Builders Club was created by Kiwanis for middle school students in 1975. Wredling’s Builders Club was founded by a former St. Charles East High School teacher named Kathy Brens (aka Mama B) and her husband, Jack. Kathy still helps out with the club today.

Builders Club has had a great impact on the community. Some previous projects they have accomplished are providing llamas and chickens to third-world countries, made possible through candy fundraisers. They have also made treats and toys for the animals at Anderson Animal Shelter. And once a year, the club works with our local Kiwanis group to make blankets that are then donated to a local cancer support group- Live Well.

As a member of Builders Club, one rewarding project from this year was making fall decorations for the local nursing home. But my favorite project was when we worked with Wredling’s Student Council to put Jolly Ranchers and motivational quotes on everyone’s lockers during Kindness Wekk. Being part of this club makes me proud to know that we are making a difference in our school, community, and around the world.
Ms. Bennett, an eighth-grade teacher, oversees Builder’s Club. She said, “Builders Club is a great club that accepts all students. We understand that students may have other commitments, but we want everyone to feel safe and welcome here. If you are interested in trying out or supporting Builders Club, we would love to have you join. We meet twice a month. Hopefully we will see you soon!”
We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting!
