Stranger Things Season 5: A Final Adventure in the Upside Down Awaits!

Stranger Things is a popular Netflix series and one of the most-streamed shows of all time. It’s known for its imaginative blend of science fiction, fantasy, horror, comedy, thriller, and even a touch of romance. The show will return in 2025 with more entertainment, suspense, and laughs. Its renewal comes as no surprise, as fans love its nostalgic ’80s vibe and have been eagerly awaiting a new season after the events of Season 4. According to sites like The Direct and Movieweb, Season 5 is expected to be released on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Beloved actress Millie Bobby Brown is returning as “Eleven,” or Jane Hopper. Isn’t it funny that so many of her characters have names starting with E? Jamie Campbell Bower will also appear frequently throughout the season as Henry Creel- also known as Vecna and One. Fun fact: Jamie played Caius in the Twilight films and the young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter!

Noah Schnapp is back as “Will” William Byers, and Finn Wolfhard returns as Mike Wheeler this November. Did anyone else catch the Ghostbusters nod with him? “Gaten” Gaetano Matarazzo will once again bring Dustin Henderson to life… his life really is a never-ending storyyyy. Caleb McLaughlin returns as Lucas Sinclair, and Sadie Sink continues her role as “Max” Maxine Mayfield.

Natalia Dyer is back as Nancy Wheeler (and no, she is DEFINITELY not related to Timothée Chalamet). “Charlie” Charles Heaton and Maya Hawke return as Jonathan Byers and Robin Buckley, respectively. What’s the latest scoop with her? Joe Keery continues his role of Steve Harrington. Hard to believe the Duffer Brothers originally planned to kill him off after Season 1!

Winona Ryder will once again play Joyce Byers, and David Harbour returns as Jim Hopper—more like David Hard-at-Work. And on top of all that, there are tons of new cast members joining the fun!

I bet you didn’t know that Stranger Things was originally rejected before it became a series. The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer brothers, were initially going to name it “Montauk”, after Montauk, New York, where it was planned to be set. Even the Upside Down had a different name. The original name for the alternate dimension to the human world, where supernatural things occur, was supposed to be called “The Nether”.

The series is also packed with pop culture references that many fans surprisingly miss. One of the biggest is Dungeons & Dragons. Several of the show’s antagonists draw inspiration from D&D monsters, including the Demogorgon, the Mind Flayer, and Vecna, each with their own terrifying methods of capturing characters. Stranger Things also pulls inspiration from well-known sources in horror and sci-fi. Stephen King’s novel Needful Things had a major influence on the show’s overall style. In fact, the show’s title font was actually inspired by the font on the Needful Things book cover, and the show’s name echoes King’s title, too!

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Netflix, Stranger Things is “one of the most viewed shows” ever, racking up over 140.7 million views and around 1.8 billion hours watched. It’s even surpassed massive hits like Bridgerton, One Piece, Squid Game, and more! It really makes you wonder… will Season 5 surpass the view counts of the previous seasons and other popular Netflix shows…
