There are many different types of puzzles, from crossword to rebus puzzles, and more. Crossword puzzles first appeared in England during the 19th century. The first modern crossword was published in the New York World on December 21, 1913. By 1923, crosswords were being published in many major U.S. newspapers and can now be found in almost every country and language. They’re a much enjoyed pastime and even help improve vocabulary.
Rebus puzzles date back to Egyptian hieroglyphs and Chinese pictographs. Literary rebuses often appeared on family mottos, personal seals, ciphers, and bookplates in Europe. Rebus may convey direct meanings or deliberately conceal them. They became popular in the U.S. after the mid-19th century and used letter addition and subtraction to represent other words. They’re often used in advertising and promotional contests.
All kinds of puzzles are super fun to solve. Though sometimes they can be a bit frustrating! Below are eight different movies represented with emojis. Comment your thoughts, and the answers will be published during the 4th quarter edition. Good luck and happy puzzling!
