Five Harry Potter Facts You Will Never Believe!

  • Did you know that many fans think Hermione should have been in Ravenclaw?

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (book 1), Professor McGonagall explains the four different houses and what they represent. Gryffindors are brave and honorable. Hufflepuff are loyal and patient. Slytherins are ambitious and clever. And finally, Ravenclaws are intelligent and love learning. Hermione is very intelligent, as seen in both movies and books, which is why many fans think she should have been in Ravenclaw.

 

  • Did you know that Hogwarts has 142 stairs?

In In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Ron stumbled on the stairs. “The staircases change, remember?” Hermione says. “Oh yeah,” answered Ron. “It will take me a long time to get used to 142 of them,” Harry replied.

 

  • Did you know that J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter have the same birthday?

 In an interview, both J.K. Rowling and Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) surprised their audience by telling them that they were both born on the 31st of July. Rowling put parts of herself into all the main characters saying that Hermione is a bit like her when she was younger and that her favorite animal is an otter, the same animal as Hermione’s patronus.

 

  •  Did you know that all the spells are in Latin?

The spells in Harry Potter are made up of Latin words. For example ‘Lumos’ which turns a wand into a torch comes from the Latin word ‘lumen’ which means light, and ‘Obliviate’ comes from the Latin word ‘obliviscor’ which means ‘I forget’. The Hogwarts motto is also Latin and says “Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus, ” meaning, “Never tickle a sleeping dragon”. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

 

  •  Did you know that The producers tried to give Daniel Radcliffe green eyes and Hermione buck teeth like in the books?

Sadly, Daniel Radcliff had a terrible allergic reaction to his green lenses and had to stop wearing them, while Emma Watson just spoke could not speak clearly while wearing her false buck teeth.
