Photograph: International The News

Mariah Carey (The Queen of Christmas) or Dolly Parton (The Queen of Country)… who is the best Christmas singer?

Mariah Carey

Nicknamed “The Queen Of Christmas” Mariah Carey is one of the most iconic Christmas singers in the world. Her net worth is $520 million. She has two Christmas albums that feature several holiday songs including, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”, and “Oh Santa!” Mariah Carey is a soprano with a range of five octaves, stretching from E2 to G#7. She has one of the largest ranges in the world.

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton known as The Queen of Country sings several Christmas songs including, “Holly Jolly Christmas”, “Christmas Is” (featuring Miley Cyrus), and “Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas” (with Michael Bublé).  Her current net worth is $650 million. She has 3 Christmas albums. Along with music career, she also owns a theme park (Dollywood) in Tennessee. Did you know, Parton has 11 siblings? In fact, 6 out of 11 siblings have gone on to a career in show business. Although she is not known for her Christmas songs, her voice is a stunning soprano voice with a range of 2 octaves stretching from C4 to C6 (not a large range for a Soprano).

Both of these women are unique in their own way. And they have nothing but love for each other. Dolly has insisted on not taking Mariah’s title- Queen of Christmas. She has been quoted as saying, “I’m not going to compete with Mariah. I love her. When you think of Christmas, you think of Mariah. I’m happy to be second in line to her.” While Mariah tweeted in a separate post, “You are the Queen of Everything!” to Dolly.

Hi Maddie! Although I am long time fan of Mariah Carey’s Christmas album from back in the 90s, I love Holly Jolly Christmas! I think Dolly Parton reminds me more of my childhood and the magic of Christmas as seen through a child’s eyes. Dolly got my vote this time!
