The Bermuda Triangle is a place where mysteries swirl like the rogue sea. For decades, this part of the ocean has captivated the attention of explorers with tales of vanished ships, people going missing, and other phenomena. But are these stories really true?
Overview –
The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil’s Triangle, is a 500,000-square-mile mythical section of the North Atlantic Ocean bounded by Miami, the island of Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. It is still surrounded by the aura of superstitious mystery.
The triangle’s history goes back to Christopher Columbus who reported peculiar activity while exploring a part of it. Columbus reported seeing strange lights in the ocean and his compass went haywire. Other early explorers were frightened while in the Bermuda Triangle because of the loud noises of birds and squeals of wild pigs.
Dozens of airplanes and ships have disappeared in this fabled triangle with unexplained causes. Various arguments have been made to reason why bizarre activity occurs in this area.
The Disappearance of Flight 19 –
In the past 500 years, at least 50 ships and 20 airplanes have disappeared without a trace. On December 5, 1945, five TBM Avenger Torpedo Bombers took off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on a two-hour training mission. This group of aircraft is known as Flight 19. Their last radio contact was about 2 hours after they took off. The planes and 27 men were never seen or heard from again. Navy officials stated the planes disappeared “as if they had flown to Mars.”
Aliens and Atlantis? –
Some people believe that the Bermuda Triangle is used for intergalactic travel and is the place of the lost city, Atlantis. UFO enthusiasts state that aliens use the triangle to travel to Earth. They also think that Flight 19 may have swept into a UFO portal. Additionally, some believe that Atlantis once resided beneath the Bermuda Triangle. In 1968, a scuba driver discovered a line of stones at the bottom of the ocean that appeared to form a road, while exploring the triangle. J. Manson Valentine, the scuba driver who was exploring the area, stated that this discovery proved the existence of Atlantis.
Scientific Opinion –
Scientists have various theories as to why numerous disappearances occur in this specific area of the ocean. Scientist Dr. Karl Kruszelniucki claims the number of disappearances is high because it is a heavily traveled area. This means that more accidents are likely to happen. Also, the disappearances are not unusual because of the poor weather. The Bermuda Triangle is extremely windy and many tropical storms occur here. The climate is a huge reason scientists believe countless accidents have happened in the Bermuda Triangle.
Even though scientists have evidence to confirm the disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle as accidental, what do you think?
