Welcome to Wredling Wrapped, where I, Hannah Sit, will break down this school year- Spotify Wrapped style! From trending songs to favorite teachers, Wredling Wrapped is all you need to relive this year in one fun, jam-packed recap!
The Year Of Owala… This school year, RedHawk teachers breathed a collective sigh of relief when the clunky, chunky Stanleys of last school year were replaced by leaner, lighter Owalas. Here’s hoping these water bottles stay upright and don’t spill like our Stanleys.
White Fox vs. Dandy Worldwide vs Pink Palm Puff… Yup- some Wredling students definitely must’ve called their parents asking for a glow-up. This year, White Fox and other popular and pricy sweatshirts were spotted in these halls. Even on days when the temperatures were below zero, RedHawks were still spotted chilling in the halls (sometimes literally) in their embroidered, baggy, 90-dollar sweatshirts. Let’s hope they don’t get out of style soon!
No More Lululemon Bags Allowed in These Halls… With an unexpected no-backpack rule, this school year was filled with binders, phones in pencil cases, not to mention lots and lots of folders. But hey, at least we won’t grow up to be hunchbacks like our parents. Oh, wait- we already are.
That’s That Me Espressoooo… After 10+ years of trying, Sabrina Carpenter is officially a household name. I mean, persistence pays off! With mega hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”, Sabrina has got Wredling begging on its knees for more songs. Only time will tell if Wredling will stop “thinking bout me, every night oh,” cause Sabrina’s our espressoooo. (And we need it, too)
BRING ON THE BUBBL’R… This year, Wredling students had to set extra alarms as school times moved up from the previous 8:40 start time to a 7:50 start time. To survive, we must rely on energy drinks, sugary foods, and coffee to withstand the day. Bring on the caffeine!!!
FEIN, FEIN, FEIN… This year, everyone pretended to love a song that is literally just one word no one knows repeated over and over again. Basically, this song makes Bach and Beethoven roll over in their graves. Isn’t it wonderful how far we humans have come in terms of music taste, right?
That’s So Sigma… Brainrot has officially begun its very, very long rule over Wredling’s students. With words such as “sigma” and “6’7” taking over, it’ll be a wonder we humans don’t go extinct.
Country Roads, Take Me Home….. At first, the reign of Country Roads wavered in the speakers of Wredling. But as Mr. Loversky got closer to retirement, it emerged bigger than ever. From 1st period to lunch, Country Roads has been force-fed to every student, sometimes 5 times a day. A couple of times, we even get the treat of being forced to sing along to Mr. Loversky singing to Country Roads. So from now on, Country Roads will give us PTSD. (If it hasn’t already) Thanks, Mr. Loversky!
That’s Soooo True (not). It’s ironic how Gracie Abrams, daughter of legit THE director of the Star Wars Films, is releasing music that shows how, apparently, even the rich have romantic problems. We love seeing how even the daughter of a millionaire still has relationship issues. Spawning billions of TikTok edits, remixes, and a viral dance, That’s So True became that earworm you can’t get out of your head, even if you genuinely hate it.
Bruno Mars Is Backkkk… After creating classics such as “24K Magic”, and “Uptown Funk”, Bruno Mars proved he’s not just fit for the 2014 music scene, but the 2024 music scene as well. With viral collabs with Rose and Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars created songs that dominated the music scene with catchy beats and lyrics that feel like a warm hug. Whether you think “Die with a Smile” and “APT” are overrated or not, they have certainly captivated the music scene.
Lights Out and Away We Go! I must say, every time I see a McLaren sweatshirt, my heart warms because hey, at least they like F1! Bonus points if it’s for Oscar Piastri! With lots of entertainment and a cast of quirky and cool drivers, F1 is part reality show, part racing! Which is probably why I see all those F1 sweatshirts. (And totally not because they seem cool)
Heyyy…Goodbye… This year is unfortunately the last year for many beloved teachers, such as Mrs. Jacobi and Mrs. Marchiori, as well as our Country-Roads-obsessed Mr. Loversky! Whether or not Wredling breathes a sigh of relief when they retire, they have certainly been an important part of the Wredling community. (whether good or bad)
LONG LIVE JORDAN LASKOWSKI… Tragically, we lost a fellow RedHawk, Jordan Laskowski, over spring break. This big shock to the community hit both Wredling and Thompson hard. We will never forget Jordan. Through thoughtful memorializations with chalk art and t-shirts, we made sure his legacy endures. He is survived by his mother, grandmother, father, and sister.
Overall, this school year has been a wild rollercoaster of highs and lows- from rich girl love drama turned viral hit to nonstop renditions of Country Roads. This school year has been a lot… in both the best and worst ways. Whether you’re just arriving at Wredling or heading off for high school, one thing’s for sure: country roads will always take us home… to Wredling!
So, on behalf of the WredFeather staff, have a great summer! And who knows? Next year might even be better! 🙂
