Our beloved principal Mr. Loversky, (and apparently, the man who once shaved his head to cosplay as Gru) is retiring this year. Mr. Loversky has been Wredling’s principal for 8 years. During this time, he’s definitely left a big impact on Redhawks. ”He’s a fun principal! He has a really lively personality.” Kaley Kujanski commented. Mr. Loversky said that he would miss the staff at Wredling the most. “The job is nice, but the people are who I’ll really miss,” he explained. However, he is ready to pass on the reins to Mrs. Favero. He has plans to clear out his house, and take a trip through Europe which ends in Lisbon, Portugal to relax on its famous beaches in July. Read on to find out everything about Mr. Loversky, from his feelings about retirement, to the answer to the burning question festering in many hearts, “Why are you so obsessed with Country Roads?”

Before Wredling: In high school, Mr. Loversky was arrested for obstructing a highway! There was a teacher strike at his school, so school was cancelled. Of course, this sounds amazing, but the high schoolers didn’t think so. “We wanted to graduate on time.” Mr. Loversky explained. Before becoming a principal, he was also a first grade teacher in Batavia, and then a middle school teacher in Wheaton. He first met Mrs. Favero because she was a math teacher in his old school district, leading to them becoming good friends. They have known each other for 18 years!

Wredling Secrets and Legacy: When asked about Wredling’s secrets, Mr. Loversky said there weren’t that many. “Thompson is 99 years old, so it has a lot. That place even has secret tunnels! Wredling’s only 25 years old.” However, after a lot of hesitating, he finally spilled Wredling’s biggest secret. “In the basement, there’s another teachers lounge with an ice cream machine and massage chairs, so that teachers can relax after yelling at kids to stop touching each other all day.” He explained. The first kid to discover this secret room will definitely go down in Wredling history! He was also asked about how he wanted to be remembered. “I want to be remembered as a principal who challenged kids and adults to do their best and stressed that kindness is one of the keys to the universe.” And that is absolutely how the students and staff at Wredling will.
Country Roads: Mr. Loversky’s famous way of playing “Country Roads” by John Denver on the Wredling loudspeakers will definitely be one of his fondest memories of Wredling. He explains that it’s “one of the great American songs.” However, he didn’t really like it much when he first listened! “I played it a couple of days in a row by accident, and people started joking about it.” So, he decided to play it a lot more, and eventually the song became his favorite. Even if discovering “Country Roads” was an accident, there’s no denying that this will always be Mr. Loversky’s song. He has definitely left his mark on Wredling, and students will always continue to make him proud by being kind.
