Merriam Webster just announced that, this summer, the next dictionary is coming out. It’s titled “The Dictionary, A Sequel”. It’s action-packed with words, humor, and, best of all, definitions!
Some of our favorite words in this new dictionary are:
Redonculus- to be more ridiculous than ridiculous
Confuzzled– to be extremely confused
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr– to be annoyed or frustrated
:()– to be surprised
Phoned– to have been interacting with a phone
Ited– to be attacked by the It from Stephen King’s novel
Yoink– to grab or pull aggressively
Over-triller– someone who can trill their r’s obsessively and does it to annoy others
This book is full of these fascinating words. You’ll be using these fontostic (to be even more fantastic than previously thought possible) words in no time!
Let’s talk about format for a second. It’s laid out in a very entertaining manner. It goes: word, definition, word, definition, word, definition, word, definition, etc. This really captures the reader’s attention. In fact, 6th grader Diya Geeth says, “Once I picked up the book, I couldn’t put it down!” Many students agree with her. In fact, it topped Wredling’s Fovorite (to be even more favored) Book List! (Did you know we have that?)
Now, one way to tell whether a book is guud (to be really good) or not is to check out its reviews. One review states, “This is my fovorite book. I thought I liked fantasy, but this is the best book I’ve ever read!” (5/5 stars). Another review, filed by Publishers Weekly, says “We brought it into our newsroom, and it was an instant hit!” (5/5 stars). Did I mention it’s a New York Time’s Best Seller?
After all of this information, I’m sure you want to pick up this riveting book for yourself. You’ll be able to find copies at your local library, the Pluto black market, and wherever else books are sold.
